The theme for
Challenge 8.3 is Tune in to Texture. We were to get our inspiration from the texture around us. I had plenty of ideas, but not a lot of time this week. I ended up merging two textural inspiration pieces into one project. The first was a sandcarved flower that I created back in January of 2000. The glass is sandcarved from the back in layers to create dimension. It is set in an LED lit base, which helps to show off the texture. This is still my favorite sandcarved piece.
I created a snack mat that is approx. 10x7. I'll probably never bring myself to put a snack on it though. The flower was done with fusible applique, and the quilting was done on my Voyager-17, to look like the frost on everything here this time of year.
It's hard to tell in the picture, but all of the fabrics are hand dyed, and have a textured look to them also.
Beautiful work Donna!
