Project Quilting Challenge 8.2

The theme for challenge 8.2 is Carolina Lily. I took my inspiration from the diamond shapes in the traditional Carolina Lily block and created Carolina in the Wintertime. It is 17" x 17". I know they don't get as much snow down there as we do in NH, but it still gets chilly in January.
I played around with the shapes in CorelDraw and drew up my own paper piecing pattern.

It was fun to see the design emerge from all the little scraps of fabric.
I quilted it on my Voyager-17. Here's a look at the back.

Project Quilting Challenge 8.1

I just love the Project Quilting Challenges and was happy to be able to take part in this one. This challenge is titled Eight is Great! I love stars, so my project is an 8 pointed star that I made into an envelope pillow.

I found a paper piecing pattern online, but simplified it to work for what I wanted. Just because the lines are there, doesn't mean you need to use them all.
