Project Quilting Challenge 9.6

This is my entry for Project Quilting Challenge 9.6.
The theme for this one is SCRAPtastic, and you had to use 12 different fabrics in your project.  I made a scrappy cover for my little note pad that I carry around in my pocketbook.

 I started out with an assortment of blue, aqua & purple scraps.

 Then sewed them together and trimmed them off wonky before I added the next strip.

 Then I trimmed the edges.

 Added a backing fabric.

 Sewed around the edges and turned right side out.

 I then turned under the two short edges to make flaps to slip the notebook in to hold it on.

Project Quilting 9.5

Another last minute entry for me. This week's theme was A Stitch in Time Saves Nine.  I had some extra squares for a nine patch cut out, so I saved them from the scrap pile. The center was traditionally pieced, and the star points were paper pieced.

Project Quilting 9.2

This week's Project Quilting Challenge theme is Triangulation. I had lots of ideas for projects I wanted to try, but there wasn't enough time to do a large project. I picked a block that I have wanted to try for years, so I dug out my Hex N More ruler that I got several years ago and hadn't used yet. Then I dug through the scrap bin of hand dyed fabrics from another project I'm working on.

 The piecing went together much easier than I expected.

 I made my block into a pincushion. I had planned to put a button in the center, but the center came out so perfect, I didn't want to cover it up. I'm happy with my little triangle project, and I'm so glad I finally got around to trying this block. I think it would make a great scrap quilt, and can't wait to get started on it.

Project Quilting 9.1

The title of this challenge is Hometown Proud. I love living in the mountains of Groveton, NH, especially in the summer. This is my mini version of a landscape quilt. I randomly cut pieces of my hand dyed fabrics to create this scene. They were stitched to a foundation piece and machine quilted on my domestic machine.

Project Quilting 8.6

This is the final Project Quilting challenge for this season, and it's titled "Time is Up!"

I had several fun ideas for projects this week, but no time to do them. There are so many awesome projects in the challenge this week. Mine is so simple that I almost didn't include it, but I really wanted to try to help Kim reach her goal. She has been an amazing hostess, and I really enjoy seeing the creativity inspired by these challenges.

I made some simple coasters in the hourglass pattern to go with some wine glasses that I blasted.

It's Wine O'clock. Time to celebrate!

Project Quilting 8.4

This week's Project Quilting Challenge is Brighter The Better. With this being Valentine's week I decided to use that is my theme and used a hot pink fabric to try out a technique from Geta Grama that I've been wanting to try. I didn't have time to do fancy quilting like Geta does, but it was fun to make and I'll be using her technique again. This project is 11" square.
